A perfect anagram uses every one of your letters exactly once. LISTEN and SILENT. TEACH and CHEAT. That's what this page finds. If you want every word of any length your letters can make, the way you'd work a Scrabble rack, use the word unscrambler instead. It drops the every-letter rule and gives you hundreds more options.
How the solver finds them
Two words are anagrams when they have the same letters in a different order. The solver uses a trick: it sorts your letters alphabetically into a signature (LISTEN becomes EILNST), then looks for every dictionary word with that same signature. That's why it's instant even with 172,000 words to check, and why it only ever returns perfect matches.
Famous anagrams
People have been doing this for centuries. Some favorites: DORMITORY and DIRTY ROOM. ASTRONOMER and MOON STARER. THE EYES and THEY SEE. A GENTLEMAN and ELEGANT MAN. And the one word nerds love most, ELEVEN PLUS TWO and TWELVE PLUS ONE, because both sides add up to thirteen. Writers have used anagrams for pen names too. Voltaire is usually explained as a rearrangement of AROVET LI, a spelling of his real surname with "the younger" tacked on.
Anagrams in word games and crosswords
In cryptic crosswords, an anagram is flagged by a word like "confused," "mixed," or "broken" sitting next to the letters you're meant to rearrange. If a clue says "silent, oddly musical (6)," that's your cue. In Scrabble, spotting anagram families like the RETAINS group is a real skill. Seeing EILNST inside LISTEN is what this solver does by machine, and practicing with it teaches your eye to do the same thing.

Why did I get no results?
Most letter combinations simply have no perfect anagram — the longer the word, the rarer they are. Try the unscrambler instead to see every shorter word your letters contain.
Can I solve multi-word anagrams?
This tool returns single dictionary words. For phrase anagrams (like DIRTY ROOM), you'd solve one word at a time — find a word using some letters, then anagram the remainder.
Do proper names work?
You can enter any letters, including a name, but results only include dictionary words — the ENABLE list doesn't contain proper nouns, so DYLAN will match nothing even though it anagrams to a name.
